Between those and the one off one that’s not even Lendon James, “Ain’t It (2.0),” this is a wedding soundtrack - honeymoon soundtrack. Lendon’s voice carries that romanticism in it no matter what he sings, whether it’s “Our Own Love Story” or the phone book, this guy could sing the pants off anyone. All you can do is see the long hair swinging. With lyrics that proclaim “I think you love your cell phone more than me” it’s easy to see what this one’s about - our obsession with our phones. Who doesn’t have theirs glued to their hands most of the day? Well Castro’s put that sentiment to rock and worked it out. With “Papaienna” you get a more subdued sound than the one before. This one sounds like a serene day on the lake with nothing around to distract you but the fresh air. Then once the lyrics kick in it transforms into this singer songwriter track that’s infused with a Latin spark. The change is welcoming but definitely transports you from the lake to a music venue. You can also experience and enjoy it in 2014 with his joint from Element 43. It’s less about the booty popping that a certain tongue slinging pop star out there, but it definitely has that club feel. Don’t get it twisted, or do with this one coincidentally titled, “Twisted.” It has this laid back, yet almost sinister ways to it as well. Then you’ll get stuck with “Trap,” while you’ll fight to survive “Hunger Games.” It’s “Pangea” though that’ll never let you go. If you took the creatures of “Avatar” and transported them to an EDM setting, but a chill one…you’d have this track. While one might assume that this was going to be a very vulgar song, it’s actually sweet and has a sense of romance to it. Couples would be lucky to adopt this one as their anthem. It’s a nice song that really just touches on the idea of love in a sexy but sweet way. What was a dismal dive bar is now an lively atmosphere full of good times and sing alongs. “Desert Jade” comes through though as the sentimental side of Holden’s music. It’s a slow song brought to life by the acoustics. The same can be said with “Pulling Stars” and its heartfelt performance. To pick things back up though, heads towards “Susannah.” It’s really hard to pick a side to stand on with this record. Each, the fast pace and the more easy going tracks, have their high points but we’d recommend the heart of the record and lead you towards the slower ones like the wonderfully sung “Midtown.” That one set the vocal standard on the album. He picks up the pace a bit with “Calling You,” but doesn’t overwhelm. Then Carr gets serious with “What Remains” as he takes you on a tour of his emotions with every word he sings. If you want to really hear what Rick Carr can do vocally though then head towards “Angel Above.” You’ll hear not only his voice, but his heart. Then the mood goes back up with the beats of “I Have Got To make A Love Call.” It sounds like it was transported out of the ’80s with its easy going delivery that sits on top of a timid dance track. Going into “If You Can’t Stand The Heat,” one would’ve assumed this was going to more in your face, instead it has more of a sensual feel to it. Jace picks things up with “Keep On Loving” as the music is lively and is cause for a toe tapping and a little finger pointing. Then you have “Ahead of the Rain” which sounds like a more mature sound than the rest. It stands a little steadier and had less of innocence to it than the rest.
