Jane n’ the Jungle – “Lucky 7” (Single-Video)
Hitting us with a ton of bricks in the form of a tightly-wound riff and gritty but marvelously melodic vocals, Jane n’ the Jungle sound like a rock band with a very serious mission in their new single and music video “Lucky 7.” Shot like a behind the scenes-style documentary soundtracked exclusively by the song, the video for this track doesn’t try to impress us with a lot of ridiculous props and pop culture nods to elements that have nothing to do with rocking as hard as possible.

Jane n’ the Jungle don’t need bombast to make a statement – for them, the music does just fine.
On the surface level, there’s a certain pop component to the style of the hook in this song that makes me really intrigued by the compositional virtues the band could develop together were they to get a little more experimental in the future. However, with that said, the rigidity of the rhythm in “Lucky 7” instantly distinguishes this chest-beating anthem from the mainstream pop model. It might be interesting to hear an acoustic version of the track at some point just for some additional aesthetical clarity, but in any case it’s definitely telling of their potential moving forward.
I was just introduced to Jane n’ the Jungle pretty recently, but while they’re a new group in my life they aren’t playing like a bunch of amateurs with pro equipment in “Lucky 7.” The era of rock supremacy is long over, but while hip-hop has become the face of commerciality in the industry, underground crews are keeping the intensity of the rock genre alive in one form or another. Jane n’ the Jungle aren’t quite as interested in preserving history as they are making it, and that could be just the kick in the pants their scene needs to become competitive once more.
