Makes My Blood Dance Artist Corner:
Makes My Blood Dance can not seem to sit still. Single after single, live show after killer live show, they’ve made a name splicing and mutating the genes of metal with disco, glam, and electropop.
Interview with Lead Vocalist Evan Russell Saffer of Makes My Blood Dance
Give us the set up of how your latest music came to be?
Right now the Together Apart music video is out and making waves. Check it out on our youtube channel, especially if you’re a fan of dance and theatre. It’s Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Misfits and very fun to watch. We will be releasing a lyric video for another new song Heaven Collides in early 2023 while we are recording in Los Angeles with producer Mikal Blue (One Republic, Colbie Callait)
What is setting your music apart from what is being heard in the music industry today?
We played a show at Ragnar’s on the Compound in San Marcos, TX last night . There was a girl there that started dancing the entire set and the crowd was amazing. After the show she told me she never expected to dance like that at a metal show. That’s what we’re about, what disco metal means to us. It marries that rhythmic component with rock metal and melodic anthemic vocals.
How are you multiplying the ways your music is being heard?
MMBD is checking a lot of boxes right now, but most of all we’re a touring machine. We are on the 2nd leg of the Lightning and Thunder tour which runs the southeast US. Playing Louisiana and then off to Florida for 4 more dates. Check out our https://www.instagram.com/makesmyblooddance and https://www.tiktok.com/@mmbdofficial for fun shots and reels of the tour each night.
Why is it so important for you to continue to make new music that matters?
We do hope in matters and we have been through a lot. One of my lyrics is “Wisdom comes after abuse”. I suppose that means different things to different people but we’re storytellers and entertainers and mystics. That’s what you’ll get with MMBD.
What does your latest music say about you?
Together Apart is about being frustrated with relationships, about being in 2 different places with your partner and reconciling. It’s about crossing back into that magical moment when romance and mystery were still alive. Lighting and Thunder go together but don’t seem to happen at the same time. Something like that.
What is the message you are trying to convey for your fans?
Most of all I think it’s: “You’re good enough”
Keeping up with you is always fun, where can our audience listen to you NEXT?
Our socials are very active especially during touring and recording. All links and tour dates can be found at www.makesmyblooddance.com. Enter your number at the top and we will text you when we are coming through town on tour.
Leave us with a meaningful story that connects to your latest music that is the ultimate takeaway for your fans?
Fear of being judged, of not being good enough is a very big underlying reel for many people, in their minds. It’s only as real as you make it, be conscious of your thoughts by asking yourself, where is my mind now? Check in once in a while and flip the script. Keep rockin and listen to music, it’s a powerful magic. Being at the show is even more powerful. Love ya. Evan
