Allan became involved in radio in the late ’60s (WBAI-FM) and had a unique radio segment called, “Mr. Guitarman”, in which he taught guitar chords to popular songs live on the radio. Research has shown that he may be the first to do this in 1971.

He began writing his own songs and in 1972, signed a record and publishing deal which produced original pop/disco tracks released on Polygram/Mercury and DiscoNet.
