Virginia based band Jackson Ward seems to be making all the right moves. This latest CD entitled “Goodbye Trouble” has received critical acclaim from many music critics and his impressive hybrid sound of Country/Rock/Pop is turning people’s ears and heads. Their dramatic crescendos, minimalist intensity, through intricate harmonies have elicited comparisons to Kenny Chesney, Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw and Eric Church.

Evolove is an American rock band that formed in Los Angeles, CA. The band’s current members are Lucy Levinsohn (lead vocals), Billy Berman (bass), Dave Corsile (guitar), Colby Jensen (guitar) and Andrew Carrol (drums). Built on love, Evolove was the brainchild of Levinsohn and Berman in 2009 who performed previously together for years in other music collaborations.

You can tell by listening to real rock music by the impression it makes on the world and by the footprint it leaves behind. Sometimes it can come out in a passionate vocal line, a social movement, or a song that is sung with emotional bewilderment. The new album called “We are the Warriors” by Los Angeles rock band Evolove is a non-stop presentation of all-out rock as described above. Making use of every rock trick in the book, it’s hard not to find something you’ll like on this 12 track collection. Provided you have a reasonable tolerance for the nitty gritty genre these 4 core members: Lucy Levinsohn (vocals), Billy Berman (bass), Dave C (Guitar), Colby Jensen (Guitar), Andrew Carroll (Drums) deliver stand up rock tracks with full throttle guitar action and flowing vocals that will remind you of a cross between Evanescence and We are the Fallen.

Atmospheric Disturbances by Casey Fallen was released in 2014. This release is an eclectic mixture of sound through the eyes of Fallen (Vocals/Keys/Guitar/Programming) sharing his stories and through the producers touch of Doug Osborne - Lead Guitar/Bass/Programming. With captivating lyrics and unique yet simple melodies “Atmospheric Disturbances” by Casey Fallen contains 13 songs total.

The Review: So as luck would have it I stumble across the latest CD by LA based Fallen entitled “Atmospheric Disturbances” (2014). Ironically this is the first pop artist I’ve ever reviewed from that region in a while. Fallen is clearly punching all the right tickets in his attempt to make a very real connection with cult listeners. First off let me just say I really love emotional songwriting that’s pure and genuine. Fallen has an innocence about him, Looking back at the last 20-30 years there have been some truly amazing artists that fit within this realm that gave us the music and songs that are for the ages. Some go through the motions but a few have a special component that you can really groove to. Artists like Atoms for Peace, Johnny Greenwood, Portishead, Sigur Ros and Muse. These bands are diamonds in the rough. From the above masters to more recent bands like Coldplay, Massive Attack, The Shins no one can deny the impact such diverse music has upon our musical pop culture. What am I trying to say?  Casey Fallen is like many of the pre-mentioned bands/artist. When you hit play and listen to the first few tracks: “Fragile”,   “Last Glance” and “city Lights” and “Fox in a Box” you will quickly be blessed and enlightened by the musical presence of Fallen and Osborne. “Atmospheric Disturbances” is to me a monumental concept album or a thinking mans journey if you will with so many musical and spiritual layers it should be heralded as a gem. The amazing combination of guitar, rhythms, vocals, keyboards, beats and rhythms all behind an impeccable vocalist really hits home. The melodies and lyrics are somewhat clairvoyant, and the vocal harmonies provide the perfect reinforcements just where they need to be. Although I will say the vocals and rhythm section needs to take it up a notch. If Fallen took a few vocal lessons from a top professional it would only make his more deadlier as an artist - because he has a lot of potential as an artist.
