Neil Thomas drops Devadatta

Paul Thomason is a rocker with an acoustic guitar never too far from his side. “Break Away” starts out slow but then builds up into an acoustic rock song that fans of bands like 3 Doors Down might be intrigued by. With “Dreams” you get right into things from the start and it has an overall lighter tone than the last one but it still has that rock base. I didn’t know what to expect from a song called “My Jeans are Draggin’” but what I got was or less the same as what Paul Thomason has been delivering with the other tracks. It had a more sing song beat to it though. In between all of the originals listeners can be treated to a good cover of Matisyahu’s “Time of Your Song.” It was a shocker because one would’ve guessed he’d cover Trapt or Breaking Benjamin since that’s where his vocals matched up. Regina Peten is a triple threat being a musician, producer and songwriter. She’s given herself to the man upstairs and makes music to prove so. “God’s Been Good” features Peten’s good friend Crystal McGee. It’s a very spirited song for the Lord and praises him for all he’s done and will do. It will remind fans of Mary Mary for sure. McGee is back again for “Anointing.” This one isn’t as hype as the last, but has a very elegant and soulful delivery. If you would’ve told the world in the ’80s that video game music was going to be an actual thing, they would’ve looked at you crazy. But now they’d be having the last laugh because it’s a worldwide loved genre for gamers out there and Acme Videogames is taking full advantage with that 8bit beat. “Bump to the Beat” of course sounds like what else, a video game. Okay now that was a given. Other than that it sounds like one of those songs that plays as you just do something in the game that’s not that serious - like walking around a level. “Nes FX” has a bit more going on. It sounds more like if Mario and Co. went to an industrial club or something. With “Lazy Pixie” you get a song that could be straight out of the Tron movies. It has a very techy feel to it and almost makes you feel like you’re in an intense running scene. In the end you’ll love Acme Videogames if you’re a gamer or just a tech head. Remmy Palacios is a master at getting you up off your booty to commence shaking. “I Give Myself to You” is the latest single from this Florida artist who has more of an international dance sound. The hook hits you fast and the energy of the song is that of a track that does not stop. It’s nonstop and adrenaline packed. It’s definitely one that’ll keep you up on your feet all night. Last year Remmy released another dance song, “Send Her My Love” and that one was a little less bold than his 2014 number. It was more ’80s while “I Give Myself to You” is more here and now. Kommoner is a man with a guitar who channels all his emotion and pours it out on the strings before him. “Come This Way” is an acoustic track that sounds like early ’90s alternative. If you remember that era, it was all about feeling down and expressing it through song in a manner that was a bit grungy but all around appealing. With “The Beginning The End” the music at the start sounds a little light but once the vocals kick in we’re met with that same tone of the first. Getting into “I Wanna Go” you have a more singer songwriter feel going on, but on the level of a heartbroken man. It sounds like Kommoner is in a lot of pain here. Michael DeejMichael Deej does things in a pop way but brings it to the rock world just a bit by creating catchy songs that pack a punch. “Baggage” starts off right away with a powerhouse of sound. It gives you no time to think and just hits you like music should. “Waiting for the Lime” did get me thinking though because I was like, what’s this lime and why are you waiting for it? After a few listens I couldn’t figure it out but I can tell you that his vocals were on point here. Speaking of asking though, “Question in Hand” has this force to it in the delivery. This one probably stands the tallest among the crowd when speaking about Michael Deej’s music. Is it just me or does “What’d You Do to Yo Hair” sound a little like Rod Stewart at certain parts? We cap things off with “Second Chances” and it’s a great way to say a final farewell to this review.
