Shadee Rashada is a jazz/soul singer from California who brings it cool. “Say So” is a soothing song that plays on the idea of relaxation in a cool time and place. “What Kind of Fool” relies on Shadee’s soulful voice laced between easygoing music that’s comforted by the ivory sounds. “Good Guys” also has that same feel, but is slightly more upbeat and has a monologue and message to it. “Hey You!” isn’t as startling as the title leads you to believe. It’s just a beat, but a dance beat that’s very unlike the soft side we just heard. This one has more of a club feel. “Heartbeat” takes it back to where we began with Zanatsie. He has this whisper to his delivery that, even though is soft, comes off like a strong wind. Theresa Goldberga Mcdonald is an artist who embodies one of the greats but still does things her way. “Shining Like a Diamond” sounds like Prince. The vocals have that high yet smooth appeal to them. They’re like sexy and 80’s inspired. The vocals weren’t going to change, so you get that same idea in “Get Up Again.” Only this time around she is a little more R&B and less upbeat. It’s a slow song to groove to. “Let The Healing Begin” has that same slow song vibe, but this one is more in the inspirational level. It turned into a religious based song and that’s the route that Theresa Goldberga Mcdonald should travel with her music – it’s where she truly shines most. Eve of Release may sound like a full band, but it’s one man making the varying styles on one record. “Divine” is a nice pop song that falls into the pop that’s more on the Vh1, singer/songwriter like pop that’s similar to Train or Gavin Degraw. “The Great Beyond” is a more serious side of Eve of Release. Then you have “Feeling March” which is somewhere between the two previously mentioned ones. It’s not this uber-upbeat song but it’s not the most somber toned track either. “Speedball and Chain” picks up the pace for Eve of Releases music as a whole. You can hear a rock influence in this one with the heavier guitars, but never fear – they never overpower the vocals. Before I clicked “Sentimental Keepsake” I assumed it’d be a love song of sorts. Then it started out like the opening scene of Phantom of the Opera or something. The drama was dark and the lyrics followed suit. I thought it was going to be a folk song in vein of Bob Dylan with a Mumford and Sons modern twist. Instead it was this song that had a light pop melody with innocent vocals attached. This song couldn’t hurt a fly if it tried. It’s a sweet sounding song that’ll definitely put a smile on listeners’ faces.
