Ked Rocker comes out of Florida to the masses with the new single, “Legendary” with the street date of July 6th. The Urban Pop, Hip Hop and R&B/soul artist has a lot of understated attitude and downright honesty, which is spoken volumes for in every sense there is. The track isn’t your older brother’s rap, it’s contemporary and full of common English with a lot of witticism and even some humor for such a serious tune, played mostly on piano. And to be fair, I’ve never heard Ked Rocker before, so it was an automatic move and a very good one.

Italian hip-hop maestros Still G & Slapy are back this summer with a smashing new single in “Endless,” which is out now via THOMAS Music & Art’s Genialsong Group imprint and recently peaked at an impressive #10 on the Euro Indie Music Chart. “Endless” is all about raw machismo enmeshed with sensuous, boldly inventive harmonies and grooves that push the limits of conventional hip-hop to the very brink, but I wouldn’t describe it as a purely experimental endeavor on the part of these two artists. Still G & Slapy are flexing some serious sonic muscle in this track, but their primary focus is always on dishing out larger than life swing.

Creativity was always a part of Chellcy Reitsma’s narrative. As a child, she sang and danced alongside her family to a variety of styles. It was then she discovered one doesn’t have to pick just one lane as all music is precious. With time she put music on the back burner and focused on art and dance throughout college. However, injuries sustained via dance left her unable to perform in that respect. While some would’ve wallowed in the loss, Chellcy took it as an opportunity to get back to music and explore the opportunities it held. That was in 2015. Four years later she’s riding high on finding her voice and using it to captivate listeners around the world with her latest release, Black Water.

Growling bass tones channel a sound that is reminiscent of a wild beast awakening from a long slumber at the onset of “Serpens Caput,” the opening track in Seven Against Thebes’ self-titled LP. A sitar introduces an eastern flavor to the ominous sonic undertow taking shape around us, but its cerebral tone is anything but a predictable nod to 60’s psychedelic rock. The beat starts to form, and as it grows in size, so does the chill-factor. The gritty fuzz of a flange-laden, distorted guitar slices through the stoic backdrop, and suddenly, without warning, it emits a full-color riff that is thick, scooped, and undeniably threatening. This menacing melody sets the mood for what will soon follow in the tracklist, but the sonic brutality has only just begun.

I am quite taken with Integriti Reeves’ performance of the Gilberto Gil Latin jazz classic “Eu Vim Da Bahia”. The song is one of Gil’s most popular numbers and the Brazilian born composer and performer would/will undoubtedly be rather happy to hear how his creation continues to live and reach new listeners in the hands of such a prodigious young vocalist. Her debut EP S_tairway to the Stars_ features the single and you can hear why she chose the song as a representative number from her first release. It has a smooth tone throughout the whole track yet communicates a wealth of emotion that never threatens to overtake the song or listeners alike. It’s the product of a musical education for Reeves that includes numerous academics achievements alongside impressive runs with a variety of five star artists like Stevie Wonder, Patrice Rushen, Hugh Masekela, and Smokey Robinson.

The inspiration for 6est7 ‘s new album “6ROKEN” has to do with everything and everybody around him. If you are a fan of legendary musicians such as The Weeknd, Drake and others like them, this album is a must have for your Hip-Hop collection. The vibes he gives off is nothing like what I hear today.
