La’Mar Le’Warren put a lot of work into his video for “Middle Finger.” It’s humorous but at the same time a song you put on to have a good time. Everyone can relate to this one. It’s about leaving your day job on Friday and having a good time until you have to go back in and do the 9 to 5 all over again. KayeLeM’s album “Evening On Earth” is truly an album that will take you near and far, from here to there on a musical trip you won’t forget. “Evening On Earth” is scary to outsiders, but for fans of eccentricities, it’s just right. It sounds like something from another time period, or planet; like you took either a time machine or spaceship to find it. “Vanity Woman” sounds like a night out in Latin America. There’s some confusion to why it’s lasting so long, but you stay on intrigued by the possibility of what could happen. The script is flipped when “All We Need” begins. Where did this come from? We started with an interstellar track, went into an obscure instrumental and then landed at this rock ballad of sorts. It’s like a cousin of Poison or something. Then we head back to a distant land. This time we stop in Jamaica for “Reggaellate Dub.” The island sounds are strong with this one. Lastly, “A Simple Song” is anything but. Jerone & Friends is a group of musicians who capture the livelihood of R&B music. “Summer Nights” makes you feel like it’s the middle of July on a rare cool night. The air is cooling off you off and the relaxed state is creeping in and you can do nothing but sway to the music. Then you might sway into “Can You Feel The Sun (That’s Love).” It starts off slow but has this mid-tempo pace that will make you perk up. You’ll perk up enough to notice the tribute to Lou Rawls with “Lady Love.” It’s creamy like most R&B flavored music. Mark Alberto Yoder Nunez is a singer/songwriter who can sing what he writes, but isn’t against having others take on his words from time to time. “In The Year 2525” a cover song that Nunez does a superb job on. He captures the original by showcasing off all the twists and turns of the chords, and melodies. He’s much more at home when he takes on his own though like with “Naomi Jones,” the acoustic version. You can hear his personal connection to the lyrics he’s belting out in his own. We’ve encountered a lot of holiday songs this week, but on this one Mark Alberto Yoder Nunez is just acting as the songwriter. He lets his pal Kathlyn Davis take the reins and sing his words. It’s a welcoming song that’s like a warm hug on Christmas morning. Dan Exactly is an odd duck, but an odd duck who can take pop, turn it on its side and give you an experience. “Two Left Feet” is definitely unique and that’s to be expected after seeing Dan Exactly. His look doesn’t fall into any particular area. Looking at him would render the mind to assume he was the lost brother of the lead singer of System of a Down. You’d think he’d open his mouth and hardcore vocals would come out. Instead you’re met with a song like “Two Left Feet” that’s anything but. It’s upbeat and has a pop edge that could slice the competition if handled right. With Jendor, “Only Fascination” is a true blue pop song that you’d hear on Vh1 because it’s not bubblegum, but like pop for grownups. He also has help from Dave Liebman on “The Blue Ocean,” which is more soulful than the others. It’s the slowest but still stands tall in the trio. Killian isn’t just for Sunday; his music is for anytime you want that Holy Spirit flowing through you. “Creator God” showcases that booming voice in a way that resonates with a feeling of goodness. While that one is a bit serious, “I Don’t Know” has a lighter tone and overall is more fun, maybe the most fun to come from Killian’s catalogue. Things get more serious with “Ready for the Gaze” but you hardly notice as you’re engulfed in Killian’s killer vocals.
